On November 25, 2017, the last weekend of the college football regular season was here. This was considered rivalry weekend. Alabama was playing the mighty Tigers of Auburn. Also, the LSU Tigers were playing the Aggies of Texas A&M. The Aggies were not a talented team but also had a very annoying fan base. The Wisconsin Badgers were ranked number five and were not in the college football playoff rankings.  The Badgers had a perfect season with no losses. The number four and three teams had one loss. The Auburn and Alabama game was a close first half. The second half was favored by Auburn. In a tough game, Auburn handed the Crimson Tide their first loss. Meanwhile, the LSU Tigers won against the Aggies and was not a close game. This was a good day because the Tigers won and the Crimson Tide lost.

Draft Thesis

A society without any order or law. "I thought I might kill" "The madness came into his eyes again" The context is when Ralph realizes that Jack is a savage and is obsessed with killing things. There is now madness with savages in the group and they have no law to go off of.

Tucker-Symbolism Jack-LOTF Response

Lotf response

The world, that understandable and lawful world, was slipping away.  Once there was this and that, and now--and the ship had gone. [... Jack refusing to give Piggy the floor when he has the conch...] "The rules!" shouted Ralph.  "You're breaking the rules!" "Who cares?" Ralph summoned his wits. "Because the rules are the only thing we've got!" But Jack was shouting against him. "Bollocks to the rules!  We're strong--we hunt!  If there's a beast, we'll hunt it down!  We'll close in and beat and beat and beat--!" (91) This passage of the book was very interesting to me because the island has made a huge impact on them. Ralph has tried to make a set of rules so that there would be some kind of order. Jack and others have tried and successfully broken the rules without anyone one stopping them.  Ralph has had the rule to talk in an assembly when you have the conch. Piggy has tried numerous times to stop people f

Symbolism

Jack and Annie were offered a couple of tickets to go to the movies. They were very close friends and had nothing to do that weekend. The movie was a six o'clock and the genre was horror. The two were not allowed to leave the movies until it was over. The theatre was in the middle of a huge mall. Jack and Annie had arrived and were very excited. The plan was to get picked up at around eight o'clock. Before they had entered the movie they had gotten some food and beverages. Once they go to their seats the movie had started. Ten minutes into the movie, the friends were not impressed. Another thirty minutes passed by and they were almost asleep. Their next move was going to the mall and walking around. Jack's mom had arrived and had called Jack. Jack answered and said that the movie was a waste of money and they had left. Jack's mom was very mad and disappointed. Jack and Annie are symbols of Adam and Eve. Both of them were told not to do something and they did it anyw

Peyton-Vocal post Julia-LOTF Reading Response

Vocabulary Post

There are two shows I am watching on Netflix right now. Both of them have to do with a crisis that has happened to them. One has happened to the world and another just happened to a large group. There are leaders that have expressed  their ideas and plans to get through the problems. For example Jack is the main character of the show Lost. His plane has crashed on an island and he is the doctor. He makes almost all of the decisions but also listens to others. Also there is a down side to being a leader or chief. If there is a decision that a person doesn't like or a big group doesn't like, people will start to revolt . When people revolt decisions, things get complicated and nasty. An example in the other show, the Walking Dead, when people revolt they are either left or injured/killed.

LOTF

Lord of the Flies is a very interesting book about human nature. If a crisis did happen to the world or a small group of people and all rule was taken away what kind of people would we be? Some people like Ralph or Jack have taken control but in different ways. Jack is more insane and is a savage hunter who loves killing things. Ralph has been voted chief without any concern. The book has been very interesting because there are only boys on this island with no rules or supervision. They really can do whatever they want and then maybe they will be judged by another boy. The author has a different way of writing than what I am used to. There are a lot of times where I wonder who is talking and what part of the island are they on. Also, there are some repetitive comments about the conch and the fire. The fire is the number one priority to Ralph because it is their only chance to get off the island and get rescued. Overall this book is entertaining but also can get confusing on what is g
