Quarter 2 Week 2 Comments

Tucker- Free Post Logan- As you get older what have you found success in?

What were the differences between middle school to high school?

There were many differences between the two divisions in Episcopal. The schedules between the two are very different. The one in high school is very flexible, unlike middle school. The longest break in middle school we had was 10 minutes. Those ten minutes were for snack and recess. There was no time to see a teacher except for flex which was very short. The schedule for high school has two times you can get homework and see a teacher in one day. One is 55 minutes and the other is 25 minutes. Also after lunch in middle school you had four classes including flex. In high school you have lunch and then you only have two classes and tutorial. Also, you have the chance to switch your classes around at the beginning of the quarter if the class is not working out. The last things are that you have to have service hours in high school. This is not a bad thing because in some way you are helping out the Baton Rouge community. This is a great opportunity to have fun while helping the society.

Human Nature

Human nature is a very broad prompt to write about and you can't cover everything at once. Every human that is brought into this world is different from others but also similar at the same time. Some people may like the same things but are built different and look different. Humans can be good samaritans or can be a danger to society. Humans come from different childhoods and guardians which means they have been raised different or they have seen or heard more things than others. The things that make us different and unique are what makes us special in the eyes of God. Humans are able to do anything they put their mind to. Sometimes we take advantage of that and take things that are not ours. This comes from being jealous of someone or on the other side being too cocky about the smallest things. Humans are fundamentally okay but could get better. The world is a good place to live, just in some of the spots on Earth, people could make it better.

LSU's revenge and Florida's Karma

LSU was coming back from an embarrassing loss to the Troy Trojans on their homecoming night. The Tigers were playing the Florida Gators on Saturday the following weekend. The funny part about this was that they invited us to play them in the Swamp on their homecoming night. This was the perfect chance to beat them and build our confidence back up. The Tigers started off well and were up 10-3 at halftime. My dad and I were talking about why we couldn't start like this against Troy. We were getting the ball back in the second half. The first drive of the second half we had scored. The next drive Florida had driven all the way down the field. Their running backs were running all over our offensive line. The had scored which had made the gam17-10. We had gotten the ball back and then had to punt. Their next drive they had scored and missed the extra point. The score was now 17-16. The fourth quarter was very boring and no one had scored. The game was now over and Florida had gotten t

Reading Response to A&P

The short story A&P is by John Updike. The main character is Sammy and he is a very weird person by sometimes very humorous.  He can be humorous because he jokes with his friend that works with him and makes jokes about the customers that come in the store. Adding onto that, he is very judgemental because he disrespects the customers and makes fun of them. Sammy is also very observant because he describes exactly what the girls in their bathing suits look like when they walk into the store. When he sees the girls he was very misogynistic because he wonders if the girls have brains and he calls them animals. One other trait that Sammy has is that he is very stubborn. He is stubborn because he followed through with quitting his job even though he was encouraged not to. I really liked the way the author gave Sammy's perspective but also it went a little too far. The book was set in an A&P grocery store in the 1960's. This time period was noticeable because of the prices

Peyton- Harrison Bergeron Katie-Flash Fiction

Fiction Flash Story

On an early Saturday morning, two teenage boys had woken up at 8:00 in Calfornia. Steve and Chris were planning to surf for a couple of hours. Steve's mom had told him before they had left to check the weather and bring some water. The two boys had just gotten two new boards and were ready to surf. The beach was five minutes away from the house. When they had arrived there, there were already a couple of men there throwing a frisbee. Steve had gotten his board and jumped right into the water and rode his first wave like it was nothing. Chris followed right behind him but took him a while to warm up. The waves were getting bigger by the hour. There were some dark clouds surrounding Chris and Steve along with the other men. The wind was picking up speed and the men were having a hard time throwing the frisbee. The clouds started to swirl and the electric eels were coming out of the water. The boys started to run to the car. One of the men had gotten hit by a 10-foot eel. The car that

Harrison Bergeron

This short story by Kurt Vonnegut Jr is a very odd story. In the story evryone in this community has to be "equal". The genre of the story is dystopian. There has to be an average level of logic that everyone has to be at. This is because there will be no competition in the community. There are many question that revolve around this short story. A level one question is what is the purpose of handicapping people? The main character is Harrison. He is a very strange and different person. He poses a threat to the government because he does not want to be on the same level as everyone. He is a very tall and intelligent man. One level two questions are what is the purpose of the ballerinas in the story? A level three question is what does true equality really mean?
